The essential drugs programme in Zimbabwe: new approaches to training

RICHARD LAING1 and RUTH RUREDZO

Zimbabwe Essential Drugs Action Programme, Ministry of Health Zimbabwe

1Dr Richard Laing, Zimbabwe Essential Drugs Action Programme, PO Box 8168, Causeway, Harare, Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwe Essential Drugs Action Programme has developed an innovative approach to training within the overall programme. The programme depends on the active participation of rural health staff in the production of training materials, combined with desk-top publishing technology. The modules thus produced have been used at provincial and district workshops. Such an approach to the production of training materials is applicable to subjects other than essential drugs.
